Cube Root Calculator

Calculate the cube root of any positive, negative, or decimal number.

Complete User Guide

Enter any real number (positive, negative, or decimal) into the input field and click Calculate. The calculator returns the cube root value, verifies it by cubing back to the original, and shows whether the input is a perfect cube.

Examples: - ∛8 = 2 (because 2³ = 8) - ∛-27 = -3 (because (-3)³ = -27) - ∛2 ≈ 1.2599

The Mathematical Formula
∛x = y where y³ = x

∛rx = x^(1/3)

The cube root of x is the number y such that y³ = x.

Perfect cubes: 1, 8, 27, 64, 125, 216, 343, 512, 729, 1000 (∛ of these gives whole numbers).

Unlike square roots, cube roots are defined for negative numbers: ∛-64 = -4, because (-4)³ = -64.

Relation to exponents: ∛x = x^(1/3). Generalizing, the nth root of x = x^(1/n).
