GPA Calculator
Calculate a weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale using course grades and credit hours.
Our GPA Calculator helps you track your academic progress and project your final grades. Here's how to use it:
Step 1: Select your grading scale (e.g., 4.0 or 5.0). Most US universities use a 4.0 scale.
Step 2: Enter your course name and the number of credits (or hours) it is worth.
Step 3: Select the grade you received or expect to receive for each course.
Step 4: (Optional) Enter your current cumulative GPA and total credits earned to calculate your new overall GPA including this semester.
Step 5: Click 'Calculate' to see your Semester GPA and your new Cumulative GPA breakdown.
This calculator uses the standard weighted GPA formula:
Grade Points for one course = Grade Point Value × Credits
GPA = Sum of all course grade points / Sum of all credits
The calculator uses these grade-point values: A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0.0
After computing the GPA, the tool also maps the final number to an approximate letter grade range for a quick summary.
A GPA calculator helps students turn several course results into one academic average that is easier to understand and track. This GPA Calculator is built for a standard 4.0 scale and treats each course as a weighted part of the total based on its credit hours. That means a 4-credit class changes the final GPA more than a 1-credit class, even if both courses have the same letter grade.
This tool is useful for semester planning, cumulative estimates, and quick what-if checks. You can enter the courses you have already completed, adjust credits, or change a grade selection to see how one class shifts the total. The running breakdown also makes it easier to understand how grade points accumulate as more courses are added.
Once you calculate, you get the final GPA, total credits, total grade points, a letter-grade-style summary based on the computed GPA, and a course-by-course table showing how each row contributes to the result.
